Getting to Know Kent Silver

Kent E. Silver, one of Silver & Archibald’s founders, focuses on Social Security Disability law.  His passion for providing protection and assistance to others began even before Law School at the University of Georgia in 1976.

After graduating from Tufts University with a degree in Political Science, Kent spent time helping others in West Africa with the Peace Corps.   He learned French and worked on a well authentication project in Upper Volta.

While studying law at UGA, Kent participated in the Prisoner Legal Counseling Project, a nonprofit service for incarcerated men and women who could not afford to hire a lawyer.  He worked in Waynesboro, Ga., for Georgia Legal Services for five years.

Kent has had a private practice focused on disability law since 1984.  In 2000, he and Art Archibald founded Silver & Archibald.  Kent’s goal for the practice is to do everything in their power to make sure clients from Athens and the surrounding areas receive the disability benefits to which they are entitled.

Kent and his wife Rebecca have two grown children and live in Winterville.  Rebecca works as a pediatric occupational therapist in Athens.  In his spare time, Kent enjoys playing sports - golf, basketball and running.  He and his wife enjoy traveling and reading.

Kent and his family are members of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Athens where he serves as an Elder.  He is also a Board member and past President of The Ark Outreach Center.
