Meet Ben Walters

March 28, 2012

Ben Walters, Athens, GA Veterans' Disability and Social Security Disability AttorneyBen Walters is the newest associate at Silver & Archibald, LLP, focusing his efforts on Veterans’ Disability and Social Security Disability. Ben graduated from the University of Georgia School of Law in 2010 after earning his undergraduate degree there as well. While in law school, Ben held a judicial internship at the Athens-Clarke County State Court and served as a mediator in the Athens-Clarke County Magistrate Court.  Ben also volunteered his time as a student to the Athens Land Trust, an organization dedicated to providing affordable housing in Athens-Clarke County as well as preserving undeveloped land in northeast Georgia.  You can read more about this community program in an article below.

At Silver & Archibald, Ben handles claims for disability compensation when a veteran has a service-connected injury, illness or medical condition that interferes with his or her ability to work. Primarily, he appeals claims when a veteran has been denied service-connection or has been given a low percentage rating for a disability. Ben will find evidence to try to establish service-connection or increase the percentage rating and thus, maximize the benefit amount the veteran receives each month.

Ben represents many veterans with post-traumatic stress disorder, depression and anxiety, traumatic brain injury, orthopedic injuries and complications from Agent Orange exposure. He regularly represents veterans in their pursuit of both Social Security Disability and Veterans Affairs benefits because it is beneficial to have one attorney for both claims. Often, evidence in one claim can be used in the other. Whether you are just thinking about filing a claim or have already filed an appeal, contact Ben Walters for advice, counsel and representation.

Ben and his wife, Kirsten, attend University Church and enjoy the outdoors in their spare time with their six-year-old son, Origen. Ben enjoys photography, gardening and building furniture.  He recently built a clay pizza oven in the family’s backyard.
