Serving the community in more ways than one

July 15, 2013

Silver & Archibald has been a long-time supporter of the Athens community, providing much-needed services to those in need.  Our Daily Bread, run by Action Ministries, provides meals to the homeless in the Athens area 364 days a year and values its relationship with Silver & Archibald, as each strives to serve some of the same clients in the community.

“Silver & Archibald provides a critical service to our client partners in Athens by working to connect them with life-changing benefits,” said Erin Barger, Athens Action Ministries executive director. “Applying for disability benefits is an overwhelming and cumbersome task for any person. Considering this process occurs at an already challenging time in a person’s life, it is important that those who support these individuals are accessible and committed to representing them well.”

This fall, Silver & Archibald will join Action Ministries’ “Dine Out for Our Daily Bread” as a silver sponsor for the second time, providing a boost to a valuable community partner that experienced hardship this spring. In April, a fire destroyed Our Daily Bread and left many wondering where its clients would receive their next meal. Because of churches, businesses and interested community members, Our Daily Bread never missed a meal and has temporarily relocated. “Dine Out” will raise the much-needed funds to keep the organization running and rebuild.

“Silver & Archibald has been a part of the Athens community for more than 20 years,” Art Archibald said. “We want to give back to the people who have been clients and friends.

“Our Daily Bread is one of the many organizations that benefit our clients, and we enjoy supporting the great service they provide to hundreds of people in our community every day.”
