Why Workers’ Compensation?

October 4, 2012

In the event of a workplace injury, knowing your rights is integral to a speedy recovery and return to work. Art Archibald and Ben Johnson at Silver and Archibald, LLP have an extensive knowledge of the laws, processes, and procedures associated with Workers’ Compensation cases. Art and Ben have many years of experience working with insurers and the State Board of Workers’ Compensation.

Things to know regarding filing for Workers’ Compensation:

  • Use the WC-14 form to file your claim.  The form is available at sbwc.georgia.gov
  • You must file your claim. Your employer will not do it for you.
  • Your employer’s workers’ compensation insurance will cover any authorized medical treatments pertaining to an on-the-job injury. These treatments include: doctor’s fees, hospital fees, physical therapy, prescriptions and necessary travel expenses.
  • Income benefits will be available if you miss more than seven days of work.
  • If you do not receive benefits after filing a claim, you may request a hearing before the State Board of Workers’ Compensation.

Professional Representation is Important
While any individual is able to represent him or herself at a hearing, professional representation is the safest way to ensure that you receive the maximum amount of benefits from your Workers’ Compensation claim. Professional representation provides you with an attorney who will fervently work on your behalf, provide you with the best chance for success, allow you to understand your case and to receive the benefits that you deserve.

Workplace injuries may result in weeks of rehabilitation and the inability to work. You should not have to suffer the costs of your on the job injury. Contact Art Archibald or Ben Johnson at Silver and Archibald, LLP to schedule a consultation to protect your rights as an employee.
