After law school, he started his legal career as an attorney for Georgia Legal Services. He helped people with Social Security benefits, unemployment benefits, Medicaid appeals, landlord–tenant disputes, and family law.
It was a natural fit for Patrick to join the Silver & Archibald disability law firm in 2014.
His Social Security Disability experience includes filing over 130 appeals in federal court—the highest level of appeal for people who’ve had their disability claims denied.
In most cases, he won reversals of those denials of life-changing benefits for his clients.
“Applying for disability benefits from Social Security or the Department of Veterans Affairs can be a long and frustrating process,” Patrick says.
“Many of my clients receive denials of their claims at first. I am reenergized whenever we help a client win a favorable decision. Often this makes the difference in having health insurance, keeping a home, and paying for food and other necessities.”
Helping people breathe easier about their economic security is particularly satisfying to Patrick because his clients often worked hard in tough jobs or served the country in the armed forces in hazardous conditions. They earned and deserve support.
The law firm also helps hard-working Georgians, he said, by supporting organizations in Athens and Northeast Georgia ranging from the domestic violence shelter Project Safe to Little League teams for children.
Patrick enjoys coaching Little League. And he serves on the board of Athens Little League.
