Silver & Archibald is very pleased to announce that Patrick Cates has joined the firm’s partnership group.   

Mr. Cates came to Silver & Archibald in 2014, after several years serving as a public advocate with the Georgia Legal Services Program.  He is a strong and effective representative for his clients in several areas of practice, including Social Security Disability, Workers’ Compensation, Long-Term Disability Insurance, and Veterans’ Disability benefits.  Patrick is a 2005 graduate of Willamette University College of Law in Oregon, as well as a 2001 graduate of the University of Georgia with a B.A. in History.

ATHENS LAW FIRM ERASES $1.7M IN MEDICAL DEBT FOR ATHENS AREA FAMILIES

Athens, Ga – January 2021.  For over 30 years, the attorneys at Silver & Archibald have advocated for those unable to work due to injury or chronic health issues.  The firm specializes in securing Social Security Disability, Workers Compensation, and Veterans Disability benefits for those in need.

On December 31st of 2020, the firm was happy to congratulate founding partner Arthur (“Art”) Archibald on his retirement after a career spent advocated for those who need assistant.  In honor of his retirement, the firm made a $10,000 contribution to help eliminate medical debt for the indigent in our community.

RIP Medical Debt is a nonprofit organization, founded by two former executives in the collections industry, that allows donors to erase the debt of Americans whose lives have been destroyed by unjust medical debt; a contribution to RIP of $1 generally erases at least $100 of debt.  In this instance, we are proud to report that the $10,000 donation by Silver & Archibald will erase the medical debt of almost 1300 individuals in the Athens area, for a total of $1.7M of debt.

Harris is a 2018 graduate of the University of Georgia School of Law and a 2014 graduate of Young Harris College, where he received a B.S. in Business and Public Policy. Prior to joining the firm, he clerked for Judges Howard E. McClain and Clayton A. Tomlinson of the Alapaha Judicial Circuit Superior Court. Harris has an extensive background in public interest work and is delighted to join a firm with a proven commitment to serving those in need.
